Collaborating closely with my dad over four months, I played a key role in designing, creating, and executing a surprise 50th birthday celebration for my mom. I contributed by conceptualizing and creating personalized merchandise, ensuring the designs reflected her personality and remained consistent throughout the event's theme. Additionally, I managed logistics, from sourcing and purchasing the merch in terms of cost effective and material quality to account for all guests, blending creativity with meticulous organization with the help of my father's planning and executions to deliver a heartfelt, memorable, and surprising experience for my mom.
Design, create, and execute a personalized, surprise 50th birthday celebration for my mom, which includes themed merchandise and event logistics done in 4 months
The Task:
Logistic Timeline:
Set band, party date, and venue
Create branding & party logo
Design 80's inspired invitations to the (surprise) guests
Design & order custom M&Ms
Research + order printing companies for goodie bag & its items
Design photoshopped movie posters to be sent in emails to guests
Modify invitation and *slightly* reveal party to Mom (didn't know about the surprise out-of-town guests)
Design & print tickets, casette tapes, and water bottle stickers
Assemble ALL goodie bag items, and distribute them (secretly) to guests
Set up final goodies at party & celebrate!
The Final Products:
The Processes:
Inspired from 80s/90s neon logos, an era my mom (and dad) grew up in. The incorporation of the vinyl record as the 0 is dedicated to my mom's love for music.
The Logo:
Inspired from an 80s/90s neon aesthetic, an era my mom (and dad) grew up in. This invitation was the foundation to the party's aesthetic and brand, alongside party venue and logo.
The Invitations:
Personalized bags, hats, stickers, beanies, and (packaging of) snacks that are designed cohesively with the party's aesthetic as well as incorporating local Michiganian goods, given to guests.
The Goodies:
A set of my mom's favorite movie posters photoshopped with her face on it, that were sent out in emails + printed as postcards.
Parody Posters:
Connected to the music theme, designed 80s/90s/2000s inspired concert tickets to attach to guests' goodies, a personal souvenir to remember the night!
Concert Tickets:
Designed a hoodie for my sister, since the surprise party was taking place on her 14th birthday, by making a play on the H50 logo. Designed a shirt for my dad to wear on the day of the party, inspired by a concert tshirt, listing places my mom has lived in throughout her life.
