Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Squarespace
This freelance project features a donation-focused website designed on Squarespace for a Pakistan-based nonprofit organization. The site was designed to create a clear, trustworthy, and accessible user experience that supports the organization’s mission while enabling U.S.-based users to easily understand, engage, and donate.
Design and build a user-centered donation experience within Squarespace by translating the nonprofit’s mission into a clear visual system and intuitive page structure. This included designing responsive layouts, establishing visual hierarchy, and optimizing calls-to-action to guide U.S.-based users seamlessly from learning about the organization’s impact to completing a donation.
The Task:
Project Goals:
Reduce friction in the giving process by creating clear navigation, prominent calls-to-action, and an intuitive flow from landing pages to donation completion.
Build donor confidence through clean visual design, consistent branding, clear messaging, and transparent information that reinforces the nonprofit’s legitimacy.
Structure content, language, and user flows around the expectations of U.S. donors by proactively answering common questions and designing the site from the perspective of a U.S. user.
Create an accessible, mobile-friendly experience that supports usability across devices and aligns with accessibility best practices.
Understanding Interaction Across Demographics
To design for a primarily U.S.-based audience, I mapped interaction differences between U.S. donors and Pakistan-based users to identify shared goals and potential friction points. This helped clarify which interaction patterns needed to be translated, simplified, or restructured to create a clear, trustworthy donation experience.
Sketches & Wireframes
I used low-fidelity sketches to explore navigation flow and information hierarchy, aiming to make the donation experience effortless and intuitive. These early explorations focused on helping users quickly understand the nonprofit’s mission, who manages the funds, and how to donate without leaving the site.
By prioritizing structure & functionality over visual appeal, I experimented with layouts that could scale into reusable or accessible templates across devices. This phase established early rules for interaction patterns, while still preserving Sanjan Nagar’s school spirit and clearly communicating its impact.
